Editor-in-Chief·San Francisco

Anika Rao is the Editor-in-Chief of Zovora Trends. She grew up in Nagpur, where her father ran a small printing press and her mother taught English at a government school. She couldn't afford the magazines at the railway station newsstand, so she memorised the headlines through the plastic wrap instead. By the time she could buy them, she already knew she wanted to make them. She studied English Literature in Pune and went into journalism with one conviction: the most interesting stories in the world are being lived by people nobody is interviewing. Not founders. Not venture capitalists. Not the person on stage at the conference. The nurse figuring out whether AI will change her job. The twenty-three-year-old in Indore deciding which side hustle is worth her evenings. The retiree trying to understand why his pension fund owns cryptocurrency. She spent over a decade in digital media, writing and editing across technology, culture, work, and money. She built editorial teams, launched verticals, grew audiences, and learned that the difference between a story people read and a story people share is whether it treats the reader as an intelligent adult. She joined Zovora to build Trends from scratch. She hired the team, defined the categories, set the voice, and established one rule above all others: write it so your smartest friend who doesn't work in the industry can understand it over coffee. Under her leadership, Zovora Trends covers technology, money, health, careers, culture, science, crypto, startups, and side hustles — not as separate silos, but as interconnected forces reshaping how people live and work. She maintains that the best editorial decisions are made while walking, not sitting, and that any headline containing the word "disruptive" should be rewritten.
